No matter how hard the storms one encounters on the journey may be; sailing spurs one to hold on, to keep going despite everything. This simple yet powerful object teaches that one should never stop dreaming and seeking new discoveries. Whether it is the open sea or the vast horizons of life itself: sailing is an eternal symbol of everyone’s indomitable and adventurous spirit.
THE MATERIAL.
Marble, beloved by the most celebrated sculptors and architects around the world and throughout the ages, is also asserting its artistic power in the modern conception of architecture and interior design. The classic and timeless taste of Michelangelo’s favorite material adapts to the most varied contexts, from the new liberty and Baroque style, to clean and essential lines, up to industrial-inspired settings.
Portoro or Portovenere Black Marble, is a fine variety of Italian marble from the Ligurian province of La Spezia, and is one of the most beautiful of polychrome marbles. It is a very precious Italian stone of an intense and brilliant black color with golden veins ranging from intense yellow to honey color. The peculiarity of its appearance makes it a unique marble, irreplaceable as an ornamental material.
The appearance of its texture is a deep and intense black, almost velvety, particularly noticeable in the polished plates, on which it seems that gold has been poured from a glass. Veins, streaks, spots and shadows are actually the result of the presence of pyrite and ocher-limonite substances.
This Work expresses at its best the immense creative and structural possibilities of natural stone, especially when the skilled hand of true craftsmanship, a symbol of the excellence of our entire Made in Italy tradition, is behind it.Marble has always held a place of honor in architecture and interior and exterior decoration. A material that has always been used in a wide variety of fields, from large-scale construction and sculpture to everyday and domestic use. Thanks to its durability and versatility, complements, decorative objects and even utensils made of marble become immortal and lend an undisputed touch of elegance to any room and decor, from classic to modern.
