The pair of Calacatta marble obelisks brings together clean architectural geometry and one of the most distinctive marbles used in interiors and interior design. Available in heights of 25 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm, the two obelisks are handcrafted to showcase the natural pattern of the stone.
The presence of two elements makes it possible to create compositions based on symmetry, verticality and rhythm. Placed on a console table, sideboard or table, they can visually frame a composition; on a bookcase, they can be paired with art, photography, architecture and design books; in a living room, they can become true decorative sculptures.
Calacatta marble comes from the marble district of the Apuan Alps, an area historically associated with the extraction of some of the world’s best-known white marbles. The same region is also home to the varieties commonly known as White Carrara marble.
Calacatta and White Carrara are not, however, synonymous from an aesthetic point of view. Carrara generally features a white-grey background crossed by finer, more diffuse veining. Calacatta, by contrast, tends to stand out for its brighter background and broader, more pronounced and contrasting veins, which can play a dominant role in the overall surface pattern. As these are natural materials, the intensity, tones and formation of the veining can vary considerably from one block to another.
It is precisely as a pair that these characteristics become particularly interesting. The two obelisks interact through the natural variations of the stone: veining and tonal variations are not artificially replicated, but create subtle similarities and differences that give the composition a visually dynamic character.
The H 25 cm version has more compact proportions and is particularly suited to bookcases, shelves and desks. The H 30 cm size offers greater decorative presence and works beautifully on console tables, sideboards and tables. At H 40 cm, the verticality becomes even more pronounced and the pair takes on a more distinctly sculptural character, making it suitable for more prominent interior compositions.
The light background of the marble allows the obelisks to pair beautifully with light or dark woods, glass, metals, neutral surfaces and other natural stones. Their clean geometry makes them particularly suited to contemporary interior design and minimalist spaces, while the timeless tradition of marble also allows them to blend naturally with classic furnishings and antiques.
Each obelisk is made from marble and handcrafted. Veining, tonal variations, colour intensity and subtle details vary naturally, allowing each element to retain its own individual character while forming a unified decorative composition.
