The Calacatta marble obelisk is a handcrafted decorative sculpture in natural stone, available in three heights: 25 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm. Its clean geometric form allows the marble to take centre stage, highlighting its veining, tonal variations and natural differences across the vertical surfaces.
Its slender profile recalls the architectural form of an obelisk and introduces an immediately recognisable vertical element into the interior. It can be placed on a bookcase, console table, sideboard, desk or table, displayed on its own or incorporated into a composition with books, vases and other decorative objects.
The different sizes allow the sculpture’s presence to be adapted to the proportions of the interior. The H 25 cm version has a more compact scale and is particularly suited to bookcases, shelves and desks; the H 30 cm obelisk offers greater visual presence on console tables, sideboards and tables; the H 40 cm version further emphasises the verticality of the form and has a more distinctly sculptural character.
Calacatta is a natural marble quarried in the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, in the same marble-producing region that is also home to the renowned Carrara marble. Although both belong to the same great stone-working tradition, Calacatta and White Carrara generally have different aesthetic characteristics.
White Carrara marble tends to feature a white to light grey background crossed by generally finer, more diffuse grey veining. Calacatta, by contrast, is known for its light background, often marked by broader, more pronounced and contrasting veins. The pattern naturally varies from block to block: this very unpredictability is one of the most distinctive and appealing characteristics of natural stone.
In the obelisk form, this characteristic becomes particularly striking. The tall, regular surfaces allow the veining to develop vertically and be appreciated from different perspectives, creating a unique natural composition on each side.
The luminous background of Calacatta also offers a wide range of possibilities in interior design. It can create visual continuity with light-coloured stone and neutral tones, or contrast with dark woods, metals, glass and more intensely coloured surfaces. Its clean geometry allows it to blend naturally into both contemporary interiors and more classically styled settings.
Each obelisk is handcrafted from natural marble. Veining, tones, shades and the movement of the stone may therefore vary from one object to another. These differences are inherent to the nature of Calacatta marble and contribute to making every sculpture distinctive and unique.

What is the difference between Calacatta Marble and White Carrara Marble?
Both belong to the marble tradition of the Apuan Alps, but they generally have a different appearance. White Carrara marble tends to feature a white or light grey background with finer, more diffuse grey veining, while Calacatta is prized for its light background and often broader, more pronounced and contrasting veins. As they are natural stones, colour and pattern may vary from one block to another, and each obelisk has its own distinctive characteristics.

The H 25 cm size is ideal when a more compact decorative sculpture is desired, particularly suited to bookcases, shelves and desks.
