The work depicts a girl trying to free herself, lifted up by a man at whose feet stands an elderly man, who is in despair. It depicts an episode from ancient Roman history, the Rape of the Sabine Women: Romulus, king and founder of the city, had the Sabine women kidnapped so that the Romans would have someone to procreate with.<\/div>\n
The work represents the drama and violence of that moment. However, it also has another definition, the three ages of life. The older man is towering over a man, who holds a girl, even younger than him.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
